More about the therapy approach

Living in a new country can be both exciting and overwhelming. Whether you're an expat, international student, immigrant, or part of a multicultural couple or family, navigating life in Finland often brings unique emotional and psychological challenges. You may be adjusting to a new culture, facing loneliness or identity shifts, or struggling to access support in a language that truly speaks to you. My approach to therapy is grounded in cultural sensitivity and designed to help you feel seen, understood, and supported—no matter where you're from or where you are on your journey.

The people I work with

I work with individuals facing a wide range of mental health challenges, including:

  • Anxiety, depression, trauma, and post-traumatic stress

  • Psychosis, insomnia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and anger

  • Personality disorders, eating disorders, and stress-related issues

  • Postpartum mental health concerns and parenting difficulties

  • Disruptive behavior and neuropsychiatric conditions such as ADHD or autism spectrum disorders

  • Relationship difficulties, life crises, and major life transitions

I also support parents who are struggling with their mental health or need guidance in their parenting journey.

A significant part of my work is with immigrants, expats, and other members of the international community living in Finland. I understand the complex emotional challenges that can arise when adapting to a new culture—such as identity shifts, isolation, homesickness, or navigating language and systemic barriers. My services are offered in English, and my approach is culturally sensitive and informed by years of experience working with diverse individuals from around the world.

How I work

My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and enriched by evidence-based tools from:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Helping you connect with what truly matters, build psychological flexibility, and take meaningful steps—even in the presence of pain or discomfort.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Offering tools to manage overwhelming emotions, develop distress tolerance, and improve relationships.

  • Mindfulness and Self-Compassion
Cultivating present-moment awareness and treating yourself with kindness rather than judgment.

This integrative approach allows me to tailor therapy to your unique situation, needs, and goals—whether you're seeking practical coping tools or deeper emotional healing.

A Collaborative Process

Therapy is a space where we work together. We explore your thoughts, emotions, values, and behaviors—not to “fix” you, but to help you move toward a life that feels more aligned, meaningful, and whole.

Let’s Work Together

I offer a free 15-minute consultation to ask questions and plan the way forward.  I never even start a therapy contact without this initial consultation since it is important for me to determine if we are a good fit. If you are interested, go to the bookings page to book the consultation
